I think 175w is a Falcon, Casper/Jaspers are supposed to draw less power. even so I think when the Falcons originally came out they came with 203w PSUs initially, so still can't be sure off of that alone. The Lot Number is in the right range at least, highest i've seen (in the us at least)

but wouldn't the casper only draw the power that it needs regardless of the wattage posted on the brick? or maybe theyre just trying to get rid of 175w bricks till they come out with a new one?

Based on manufacture date alone, this is probably not a Jasper/Casper.

Early Jaspers may have 175W PSUs if MS has some left over, just like early Falcons still came with 203W PSUs (as mentioned above).

The only way to really know is to open it up, take some pics, and let us analyze them :)

There's a small chance you can see a differnce looking through the vent holes, but it's hard to know for sure.

When you're asked to inout the motherboard of your 360 the only option it gives is "CASPER" but it is more commonly referred to as the "JASPER" board

There is absolutely no way this is a Jasper. Someone on the Xbox forums has a 360 from the exact same lot. ""Week lot 0831 seems to be the Falcon chip. My watt readings where the same as AnandTech give or take 1 or 2.I used Halo3 the same as the web site also.Sorry guys,I guess we will have to wait a little longer.At least we know lot 0831 in not Jasper."" Unless you have pictures that say otherwise, this is a Falcon and lot number is a set of lot numbers given to 360s after they make em. Lots will have the same chips, motherboard, etc.

now i know that alot of people will be spectical about whether the jasper is our or not but i think it is...think about it...if you lowered the price on the arcade you would expect it to sell very quickly...so why wouldnt you put the reliable chip set out on that system first?...i dont think ms wants a bunch of bad press by xmas season on the arcade RROD already...but i do have my doubts that i might not have a jasper...like i said i will edit when i find out for sure...so far im going to go off the man. date of 8/6/08 and from the press releases from the beginning of this year that they would be in stores by late august/early september....unless someone proves me wrong with evidence, not he said she said....and no i will not open it up

I based it on early year reports(from damn near every fucking website associated with the 360)that they would be shipping out in mid september with projected mfr dates in aug to sep... i remember the same flack given to Falcons when they first came out...truth be said nobody will know till one gets opened up...my saying of it being quiet comes from comparing it to my old wind tunnel of a console...im goin on mfr date...like i said prove me wrong and i will retract my jasper claim gladly

this is most likely a Falcon and the true lot # is actually 0832 based on the part of the serial number you showed. A pic showing the power consumption on the back of the console (not the PSU) would be useful to verify, but this is almost certainly Falcon. Can't say for sure without opening it though.

Instead of tearing open the xbox's looking for a redesign, everyone should think outside the box. How about comparing xenons, falcon's, and potential jaspers via wattage meters. Even with a higher watt power supply such as a 175 watt, it would be easy to differentiate all 3 consoles by wattage use when using the console at full load. Anyone willing to try that with their Xenons & Falcons? I just ordered a 60 bg off the web this week, if i can grab a wattage meter from some technical guys at work, I'll put up the numbers... So maybe you guys can see if you can pull off the same with your falcons. This could be the firm answer we're looking for!

That is a very clear pic. Yes some people wait here to see if anyone has a jasper but just so they have an idea of when to go out and get a 360. And based on the pic I don't think it is a jasper since jaspers just started being manufactured about a week after August 6th. At least it's a falcon. They run cool as well.

folks i got some pics of the back of my system and box based on what i was checking earlier about how to identify the team idea might be a little rough as well as the PSU as mentioned earlier. The PSU should be rated at 125w this from the guy i bought my system from but in true MS fashion rolling out older 175w PSU. The guy i gout my system from does mods, have to go he said he specifically requested jaspers system this i got from him by just asking the price of the system never asked anyting about boards. He was willing to let me swing by another day and open one to show me. Havent been able to as yet cause of work. In the meantime i took the pics of my box and the back of the system its a 60 GB Pro Bundle with Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda runs really cool a bit quieter. i Also had him change out the 3V fan and install and 12 V fan. I'm In Trinidad West Indies by the way got my new system on Tuesday after my launch box tanked afetr 2 1/2 years. forgot to take a pic of the brick but its 175 W though.
